Press Release of 9 June 2020

Applications are open for organising conferences, webinars, cultural initiatives, information seminars, shows, days of games and training on financial education that will take place throughout Italy next October

The third edition of the Financial Education Month organised by the Committee on the Planning and Coordination of Financial Education Activities, which will be held from 1 to 31 October, will focus on financial choices in the time of COVID-19.
The Committee invites associations, institutions, companies, universities and research centres, schools, foundations, public administrations and any organisation that wants to engage in the field of financial education with quality events to submit their candidacy through the appropriate online form that will be active starting tomorrow, 10 June, on the quellocheconta.gov.it portal.

How are personal and family financial choices related to the Coronavirus emergency evolving? What opportunities does the digital transformation of banking and financial services offer households and businesses? These and many other questions will be addressed during the Month, with a calendar brimming with online and in-person events: conferences, webinars, cultural initiatives, information seminars, shows, days of games and training addressed to adults, teenagers and children.

The events of Financial Education Month will be free of charge and non-profit and can be organised by a wide variety of public and private entities. From 26 to 31 October, in particular, Social Security Education Week will take place. The initiative, in its first edition, was created with the aim of increasing the social security culture of citizens, starting from childhood, promoting a better understanding of the functioning of the Italian social security system, both mandatory and complementary.

All initiatives that have the goal of increasing basic knowledge on insurance and social security issues will be welcomed as well as those on the management and planning of personal and family financial resources, according to the requirements set by the Guidelines available on the Committee’s portal.

Participation allows one to use the Month’s logo and be present in its promotion on a national scale, so as to ensure the organisers of individual initiatives greater visibility and encourage the effectiveness of the actions through the coordination with other participating entities.

For all the entities that participate in the Month there will also be interactive tools to share information on the events, allowing them to get to know those in Italy who are committed on this front, so as to create synergies.
“This is an important event that the Committee renews once again this year. The aim is to raise awareness among citizens on the need to increase their financial, insurance and social security skills,” stresses Annamaria Lusardi, Director of the Edufin Committee. “These skills have a profound impact on people’s quality of life and are essential for better dealing with the current moment of crisis and uncertainty related to the COVID-19 emergency. A great deal of data tell us that the financial knowledge of Italians is still lacking and needs to be strengthened. The Committee stands alongside citizens precisely to help them in this challenge”.
